What is Shoresh?
Shoresh is the name of the Klau Library’s initiative focusing on providing educational opportunities to older adults. Each of our programs relates to Jewish culture within a modern context, helping our participants learn about Jewish heritage through the lens of Jewish books and writings.
Some key points
Shoresh programs are geared towards adults over age 60, but are appropriate for participants of all ages.
Though our content centers on the Jewish experience, we have found that adults of all backgrounds are interested in Shoresh presentations, and all are welcome to join us.
Programs may be brought to your facility or hosted at our library.
We have partnered with synagogues, public libraries, retirement communities, adult care facilities, and adult services programs.
Our programs encourage audience participation and discussion, and many include a hands-on activity. We believe that people build important social connections through learning.
Shoresh programs are funded through the Jewish Home of Cincinnati, in partnership with Hebrew Union College’s Klau Library.
