What is Shoresh?

Shoresh is the name of the Klau Library’s initiative focusing on providing educational opportunities to older adults. Each of our programs relates to Jewish culture within a modern context, helping our participants learn about Jewish heritage through the lens of Jewish books and writings.

Some key points

  • Shoresh programs are geared towards adults over age 60, but are appropriate for participants of all ages.

  • Though our content centers on the Jewish experience, we have found that adults of all backgrounds are interested in Shoresh presentations, and all are welcome to join us.

  • Programs may be brought to your facility or hosted at our library.

  • We have partnered with synagogues, public libraries, retirement communities, adult care facilities, and adult services programs.

  • Our programs encourage audience participation and discussion, and many include a hands-on activity. We believe that people build important social connections through learning.

Shoresh programs are funded through the Jewish Home of Cincinnati, in partnership with Hebrew Union College’s Klau Library.
